theraggedymadman entered the Pie Hole

The Pie Hole, a restaurant that served, you guessed it, pies, was like a ghost town. There were sometimes days like this - Chuck was used to it. Ned was gone with Emerson and Olive was off somewhere. They could’ve easily closed shop for the day but she’d elected to stay behind. The quiet might be a nice change from the excitement they’d faced lately with their recent cases.

But Chuck was bored. There hadn’t been anyone new come in for a couple hours. She’d entertained herself by stacking the silverware into the shape of the Eiffel Tower, but the sound of someone coming into the restaurant ruined her concentration and made the whole thing tumble over. “Ah-” The forks and spoons clattered to the floor and she looked up at the newcomer and smiled apologetically. “Sorry. Welcome to the Pie Hole! What can I get you?”

The best time of year

Winter was Chuck’s favourite time of the year. The holidays were great, and the food and decorations. The Pie Hole was always especially busy with a lot of people wanting a warm treat to get them through a cold night. But Chuck liked it for other reasons.

Ned was leading her down the street with their destination unknown - or at least it was unknown to her. It was a surprise, Ned had said, which surprised Chuck. Usually surprises weren’t his thing, but it must’ve been the holiday spirit getting to him. The couple were holding hands, something made possible thanks to the unusual cold weather they were experiencing and the gloves they were wearing.

“Ned?” Chuck slipped on an icy patch on the sidewalk and clung to his arm for a moment while she regained her footing. “Where are we going? We’ve been walking for a while.”

Reblog this if my character can go and talk to yours even though they don’t know each other.

“Am I a hurricane?”

“A little bit… but I like the weather.”

I’m curious - how did you die? I mean, if you don’t mind me asking.

Poisoned, unfortunately. [she laughed softly] Never thought that would be the way I’d die but John found me on the floor of my flat. I don’t know how long I had been there.

…How about you?

That’s horrible. [She said, holding her arms around herself.] Me? I was on a cruise and I had a plastic bag stuck over my head. A pink one with a smiley face on it. And then my body was dumped in the ocean. First time actually going out in the world and it killed me.
